The Patent History

Our Corporate Background

My Father, Capt Thomas R. Rummel USMC died at 51 of small cell Lung cancer. We watched the Doctors cut him, with surgery, poison him by conventional chemotherapy with horrendous side effects, burned him by using harsh radiation and lied to by "well meaning" but ignorant Doctors. My Father was only 51 years old and died in 1986; I am an RN and bought into the mainstream "Allopathic" cut/poison/burn treatment for cancer.

I wanted to understand this, so I trained in Oncology at the NIH and after giving Chemotherapy for one year I quit. I could not sleep and took home all the memories of the sick persons that I made more miserable with IV poisons; I could not live with myself.

10 years later my Mother, Phyllis, who was my best friend, Mentor, Minister and Sage Wise One, was diagnosed with the exact same type of Lung Cancer and was given 2-6 months to live. I was with her, I heard every word and the doctor proceeded to say, "We will do 6 months of Chemotherapy, Radiation and Preventative Radiation to your brain."

My mother said, "I am not this body, I am a spirit inside this vessel and you will not tie me to your medical clinic if I only have 2-6 months to live on earth." I am not afraid of death nor does the "Medical Establishment" intimidate me. God is in every cell of my being and when my time comes, it comes. I am going to take the next few months and my daughter and I are going to travel and find an alternative for this barbaric treatment for cancer".

From that point on, our Journey began, we began looking at alternatives, we researched and researched and found a book that Allopathic Doctors say is, "Hogwash" called "The Cure for All Cancers" by a Canadian Microbiologist Hulda Clark.

Dr Clark's hypothesis or theory is that cancer is a disruption of the cell by a form of parasite. She prescribed wormwood, black green walnut hull tincture and other herbals in her book. The most important thing that stood out to me was no propyls on your skin as they come from petrochemicals and are harmful to the environment both the Human Body and the Earth.

In her book, Clark stated, "No Skin Care or Makeup on the Market" was to be used on the Human Body or in Cleaning the Home. No Pesticides with Chemicals, everything has to be stowed away from your environment. Clean only with Vinegar, Borax, Arm and Hammer washing soda. So stow away we did, It took us 2 weeks to clean out all the items with the word propyl on any label or anything in her home.

We traveled, I learned so much from her about Spirituality she was an Ordained Minister in the Unity Church and was incredibly spiritual, not religious, there is a huge difference. We met authors of books, Walter Starke "Homesick for Heaven" at his Guadalupe Ranch. We met Healers, and Doctors who understood her and the respect for her was immense. We met Louise Hay and many other people who spoke of attitude and Disease.

We went on a journey through her past, where she grew up, where her roots were and talked about what she loved and treasured in her childhood. She had a child like faith in God. She said to me one day, "Trisha, thoughts are things, you focus your prayers on specific things you may get them and I hope you want what you get". she went on to say, it is "Thy will, not my will be done." I learned from her that if something happens in your life, it is how you respond to it that matters and to always see the glass as half full.

Well I will tell you, I have a background in Microbiology and Chemistry, I began looking at the poisons in skin care (see the worst 10 ingredients in skin care). My dear Phyllis a.k.a. Mom, had me making soap in no time and we had so many messes and so much fun learning. She had been alive now 6 months and was the best looking "Dead Woman" I have ever seen.

I then began researching the properties of Essential Oils and the dangers of Fragrance Oils. My dear friend Melissa Shephard was instrumental in this, as was my mother. I began tweaking and formulating and spent thousands of dollars on Oils. I have a huge distain for the slaughtering of animals, so I quit using animal fats and Emu oils etc. I went totally for the most organic, plant derived carrier oils and Essential Oils on the market - the least filtered and raw the better. I researched the lotions on the market and the first ingredient was water and mineral oil (made with Petroleum and not a mineral in it) it is total garbage. The cost to make a bottle of junk lotion costs an average of 50 cents a bottle and they charge approx 1000% markup on every bottle.

I was appalled at the Cosmetic Companies and their way of deluding the people. A $100.00 a jar anti aging cream costs approx $4.00 max to make, the jar and advertising are where the cost is. I was sickened, then I found Skin Deep an Environmental Working Group trying to stop the use of dangerous chemicals and petroleum's in skin care. I wasn't alone any more.

I formulated a Balm with the most healing essential oils I could put together along with raw shea, mango, organic evening primrose and other plant derived oils. No man made chemicals or preservatives. I then called it New Hope and started a company called Mother Daughter Crafters. MDC was our logo and I opened a shop in my little town of Brooksville.

By this time my mother was well, had not gone back to the doctor and it was 5 years. She refused to get another CAT scan or lab work. She was so happy and proud of me as I formulated a Balm that had the most incredible healing oils and it was preserving itself without chemicals for 3 years.

I invented "The Lotion Jar in a Bar" as the Final Step. I could never understand why, we covered small cuts and scrapes with band aids. Bacteria thrives in dark, warm and moist environments (so why do we cover children's cuts and scrapes?). The skin is the first line of defense and needs protection not stripping with chemicals, Then the Lotion Bar was born. I then had a 3 step system needed for skin, organic soap to cleanse, organic skin balm to lubricate, and the Lotion Jar in a Bar (registered trademark) to seal in the nutrients and use on cuts and scrapes.

My Mother is the reason I exist, she is the reason I am an inventor, she is the reason that I do what I do. Then something happened, people with skin diseases started using my "New Hope" and their skin texture changed. People with psoriasis began getting better, children with eczema began getting better, people began coming to me and saying they had a burn and after using the balm it never blistered and was gone in 2 days, and I received story after story and gratitude for my invention.

My Dear Husband, Richard and my Mother said "You have to get a patent." So I contacted Litman Law in Washington and found the best patent writer in the world, Naheed Usman. She was an angel and we worked on the verbiage of this patent for 8 months, crossing our t's and dotting our i's and made it so airtight, that if anyone tried to copy it, they would have to call it, "Cancer in a Can". We filed the patent in 2003 and in June of 2006, Patent #7060306 was awarded and signed by the most wonderful patent Examiner, Christopher Robin Tate.

My Mother had some health issues about then but she pulled through again, it had been 12 years since her "death sentence of 2-6 months" She was so proud and used only my products, she even wrote Hulda Clark to thank her. Clark had been thrown out of the United States for practicing medicine without a License and went to Mexico to open a clinic. Sometimes that's what happens when you think out of the "Mainstream Medicine" box that says it's ok to coat pills in plastic. The powers that be fear you and so exile you from their world.

The year I received my patent, I received a phone call from Mitchell Martin at www.certichem.com in regard to the dangers of plastic. You can put a perfectly good product in a plastic jar and it will leech endocrine disruptors 7 times more powerful than the estrogens you naturally create. Plastic bags are killing our environment, ecosystem along with plastic bottles made with BPH. Plastic Baby bottles were creating severe dangers in children; some were urinating fibers of plastic. I was Broke by then but knew I had to do the right thing. My mother listened to my story and said, "You have got to be kidding", she gave me the monies to buy glass jars. We had to stop using shrink wrap on our soaps and use only Organic Cardboard boxes.

It was then that we renamed the company "ESP Essential Skin Products". I kept creating and made a baby line with the 3 steps (soap, balm & lotion bar) and made it patent based. We call it "New Beginnings" for children up to 10 years of age. Customers wanted scented lines, so I bought raw essential oils and created scents with no phthalates (hormonal disruptors). If something says fragrance that can mean anywhere from 5 to 500 chemicals or I call it, "trade poison secrets".

The New Perfection Line is for people who want a choice of exquisite scents (these lines are made only with organic essential oils) I created my "New Perfection" scented line which is all patent based (and some added, self invented essential plant oils to the mix). We now have scents like Sweet Grass, Wood, Spice Islands, Tropical Shores, Sacred Winds, Mother's Lavender and Carolina's Flower.

We have recently developed Anu Wisdom - an Intelligent Skin Care Line made with the most expensive essential oil in the world "Neroli" ($3,000 per ounce) and added Italian Mandarin Orange - it is "heaven scent".

I closed my shop in May of 2006 due to the expense and sold all the Contents except for my precious Essential Oils. I found a facility for minimal cost and now, after regrouping and reorganizing have formed an LLC.

In July of 2007, I called my Phyllis, she said, "I am in Pain and I don't feel well, Trisha." Will you take me to a Doctor. I took her to our dear friend Bob Hartzell in Springhill, Florida. We explained our situation, that we wanted no heroics, no hospital, we just wanted to keep her comfortable in her lovely home that she decorated herself. She then showed me the masses that had been appearing over the past year and that she never complained about. She just kept it to herself and God, no fear, no remorse, no regrets, no talk about anything that had to do with her disease.

Our kind Doctor Bob understood and gave us pain medications and things to keep her comfortable. She would not go to the hospital to get an X-Ray but she admitted the disease was back. It had been 14 years and she got to see her two grandchildren Kayla and Brenna take their first steps, walk, talk and start school. She wanted no services, just to quietly be buried with no fanfare next to my Father.

In August she slept a lot and wanted to be left alone, that was her way of telling us that she didn't want us hovering and it was her time to pray and meditate. The family pitched in and did what they could for her. My Mother, Phyllis was a GREAT giver but not real good at being coddled.

In September I took her to her last appointment and she looked great, Dr Bob said: "I'll see you in 6 months." After that visit I was on the phone daily asking for more pain medications for her, I am a Nurse and I am her Daughter. I knew what was best for her. She slept and we talked and I was blessed to be with her. I moved in with her and her "adopted son" my cousin Clayton came down from New York, and in retrospect I think she was waiting for the last child to come down. My Brother and the kids were there. The evening before she passed she watched "The Queen" with Clayton. She was The Queen that held our family together that gave with warm hands spoke her mind and didn't take any B.S., she was such a class act but so, so loving.

That night Clay and I stayed up with her all night. She was in pain and uncomfortable. The next morning I called Hospice and they were there immediately. I had told her once, "Mother, I will be the last pair of eyes to gaze into yours when you move on from this place." That evening when everyone said their Goodbyes I walked over to her and said something... then she opened her beautiful eyes and smiled and her spirit moved on. I kept my promise and I miss those beautiful blue eyes... She passed September 19, 2007 ...and there was such a hole in my heart and I grieved to the depths of my soul for many months thereafter.

I talk to her every day as I work making New Formulations, we now have an Organic Bug Spray, and a Serum both in liquid form (each made with the patent), we also have an organic lip balm and all natural body soaps - many available in either bar or liquid. We have discovered that the patented mixture gets deep into the skin and works deep down at the cellular level.

This is the foundation of our business; I am and will always be a Nurse. I am and will always care and have compassion for others less fortunate than I, and I will always be there for those who are ill and frightened and in need of guidance ...and if it were not for my Mother I would have never done what I have.

Now I can hear her voice in my head, "Trisha, it's time to stop crying, start living and get on with what you were meant to do. A newspaper quoted me as saying, "I am just a Hippie dancing in the daises and crazy like a fox." Others call me and say, "You are the Albert Einstein of Botanicals and Skin Care."

I am just a Spiritual Being having a human experience just like all of us. I am just one soul who has learned that what's important: to pH your diet, take herbals instead of drugs when you can, and if you haven't laughed or cried in a day you haven't experienced God. Call your Mother every day because you never know when you will see her again... and JUST BE NICE TO EVERYONE, whether they are paupers or kings, because they are no better than you or me (This is not to say support them financially and get in the gutter with some - just be kind in your daily encounters.) .
